Seems like they would be great for flooded areas too. A national fleet owned by FEMA could be useful for battling future Katrinas.

I love that Honda is bringing back the CRX in a hybrid version (or any version really is OK with me). Now GM can bring back the Fiero in an extended range electric version! Probably as a Chevy. It's hard to imagine a Buick that small.

I think the 210-horsepower 4.0-liter V-6 that is the current base engine in the Mustang is the worst engine of any car in production today. I know those are strong words, but it really is just horrid. That engine actually dates back to the mid-60s, believe it or not. It's way past time to retire it.
The new 3.7 is completely modern, using all of the latest technology. Just think about everything engineers have learned about building engines since then.

I'll take a green version. The V-6 with the turbo slapped on! So the old V-6 was bad?

There's just something about a Mustang and a 302. It's just the way it should be.
I think I'm more excited about the new V-6 base engine. The 4.0-liter is just awful.

That certainly has a lot to do with it. But there are also choices. For example, GM showed the GMC Granite concept. Would the money spent on doing that car have been better spent on another concept using the the Voltec powertrain system? They've decided to move ahead with the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, but the Converj has not been confirmed for production. Some of it is about priorities.

Is it that GM is too broke to compete equally in this field against Toyota and even Ford for a few years?

Good stuff. Love to see the return of the 5.0! How can I get them to cram that into the new Fiesta?

Once we're free of mid East oil, the standard could be dropped outright. It probably wouldn't matter then. Companies would just make electric vehicles to the old standard because all of the "gas" stations would be using it. And hydrogen might be the preferred fuel by then. If a battery change standard helped change the fossil fuel infrastructure over to electric, it would probably do more good than airbags and emissions standards put together.
